You Are Enough
Happy mothering, Haylee xo https:/
No one told me how much I would miss her.
From the time the those two little lines appeared, my daughter was the centre of our small world. Her every whimper answered, examined and agonised over. Mostly by me, her Mama.
As I inhale the sweet milky scent of newborn breath, my arms ache for her.
She has adjusted to the changing rhythm of her life with graceful acceptance. Daddy’s arms offer comfort. Daddy’s words offer guidance.
I sneak into the pockets of space while the baby is sleeping. Interrupting towers of blocks, examining of bugs and make believe games. Overwhelming her with my needy love.
She runs to me. Throws her entire body into mine with strength and abandon.
She feels it too, this shift.
In all the advice (and boy, was their advice!) I received while pregnant with my second child, not one person mentioned how much I would miss my first.
Over time, we found our new normal as a family of four. I learnt to juggle, and believe it or not, I found ways to spread my love and attention everywhere it needed it to be.
So to you, Mother of two, or more; please hear me. I know it's hard right now. I know you are scared you won't have enough to give. But you are all they need. You are enough.
