Congratulations on becoming new parents, or parents again!
This is an incredible time in your lives where you get to know the beautiful little bundle you have nurtured and anticipated for 9 months. It’s also the time you say goodbye to your little handbag or man bag and say hello to your nappy bag.
Your nappy bag will be with you for months, possibly years - it's the one accessory that can determine whether you have a successful outing or a complete nightmare.
By stocking your nappy bag with my essential list, you will never fear being caught out without the right supplies.
The following is a list of items I recommend you always have in your nappy bag:
A practical, stylish and good quality nappy bag. When I say bag, I don’t mean suitcase. It needs to be big enough to fit everything, but not too big that you won’t use it
Sample size nappy rash cream. Paw paw ointment can be used as lip cream and nappy rash cream too
Baby Panadol and any drops or medication your baby is on, such as reflex drops
Any medication you are on including a dose of Panadol/Nurofen for the sudden onset of a headache
Breast pads (unless you're not breast feeding or male)
2 light changes of baby clothes including a light cardigan in case it gets cold
A small purse/wallet with $20 and a few gold coins just in case of emergency or you need a coffee.
Sample baby formula and bottle with lid
Snacks for you eg nuts, trial mix and/or muesli bar and water bottle
Muslin or small summer blanket for cover when breastfeeding or for laying baby on
Nappy mat (if bag doesn’t have one use disposable nappy mats)
On returning home, replenish whatever you have used during your day out. This ensures you are ready to next go out within a minutes notice.
Have a great day out with your new baby!
