The House of Lies - Book Review

by Jacq_ (follow)

If you are looking for a gripping page-turner to read, this is it.

A confronting, true story; starting with the perspective of an innocent 10 year old girl, Renee.

Born to a teenage-runaway mother and a incarcerated father; Renee is taught from a very young age that she must keep secrets. No one is to know that her dad is a murderer.

She carries this burden, along with neglect from her mum, alone. She creates an alter-ego who is full of confidence and hides her true self.

The story follows Renee into her teens and early 20s, where her suffering continues as she becomes a victim of sexual abuse and domestic violence so shocking, that it is sickening to know that this is a true story.

This is a confronting read, but written with incredible honesty and articulation, and with a protagonist who is the epitome of a survivor; you simply wont be able to put it down.
