Getting your child to love writing is the most challenging task for teachers and parents, particularly for kids under the age of five years.

However, writing skills are essential for success in school, jobs and any field of learning. It is important to make the effort to get your child into writing. To succeed, you need to incorporate different things, starting from supplying writing materials, as well as generating interesting content ideas.

Kids under five years may prove hard to teach. You have to begin by teaching them how to hold a pen or how to type using a computer. Here are six practical and easy ways to get your child to love writing, especially if he or she is under 5 years of age.

1. Set up a writing station
Setting up a writing station is the first step you should consider when teaching kids to write. All of their writing materials and tools should be kept here in an orderly manner. The station should be attractive to gain the kid's interest in coming back frequently. Consider using decorative stickers and different colors in the location to attract the kids’ attention. The writing materials should also be attractive.

2. Start simple
Preschool kids may seem reluctant to writing when the writing practice is made difficult and possibly annoying for them. Start by teaching your child how to write his/her name in a way that is fun. You can use different techniques such as cutting letters and different colored marker pens to help your child scramble the letters, until he can write perfectly. You should make it more practical to create more fun, especially in the case of toddlers.

3. Online writing games for kids
Online games are perfect to challenge your children if they enjoy interactive learning. Keyboard games are great for kids, as modern kids love computers and mobile phones. These games not only teach your child how to write, but also teach them how to type faster. Educational writing games are available online, and most are free to use. Games such as the vocabulary-spelling city are perfect for teaching your kid to spell and write English words correctly.

4. Creative activities
Research shows that teaching your child to write does not necessarily have to start with a pen and paper. Different activities or fun writing games can help your kid enjoy writing, such as using sticks, paper cutting to make letters and using fingers to illustrate how different letters are supposed to be written. Most kids will enjoy doing practical activities rather than just sitting down with a pen and paper.

5. Storytelling
Kids enjoy listening to interesting stories. Folktale stories work best with children when it comes to writing. It motivates and inspires the kid to get into the active writing of what is narrated, and the kid will be more cooperative and happy when it comes to the actual writing. Consider starting any writing session with a story to activate the kid's mind so that he or she can grab the writing art quickly. Stories should continue in the whole writing process to keep the kid active and prevent boredom. You can also dictate some words and let the kid do the writing.

6. Appreciate the child
This may seem less important, but appreciation plays a significant role when it comes getting your kid to love writing. When your child makes even a slight improvement in writing, ensure that you buy a small gift or do something small to appreciate the kid.

This motivates the child to make further improvement and even try to do the writing independently to please you. It is interesting how the kid will try to scribble some letters to get that gift from you. Avoid scolding the child when a mistake is done, but rather try to correct the mistake with a light voice to make the child understand more.
