Proud mum, so happy to be able to have my first long hold and breastfeed :)
The excitement, anticipation, the baby oil and bio oil rubbing all over my perfect round belly.
The kicks, the squirms, the slow snake turns.
We had wanted him so much right from the beginning. We tried every day, three times sometimes.
Love and ecstasy and amazing connection uniting us as one.
He was our secret for 12 weeks.
No one knew except my partner and I.
It was our special time to cherish our now and our future.
I was sick, hungover feeling, drained, tired and sometimes down and emotional.
I was pregnant!
It was all so amazing,
growing a being inside of me.
Would it be a he or a she?
We kept it a surprise to help with the labour,
to encourage me to push on through when times were tough.
First close up straight after birth. So much vernix as he was 4 weeks early.
He had not much hair, just a little fluff!
What a beautiful, tiny, squishy, little person.
You were so greasy, white, blue and pink.
So wrinkly, so absolutely amazing!
“We did it!” “We birthed our tiny four week early baby all on our own!”
No medical intervention or pain relief,
just visualisation, calm soothing music, massages, twinkling candles and dim light.
“Wow! He’s amazing! I have a son! I’m a mother!”
I've always just wanted to be in love, be loved and be a mum.
Come on grannies, come!
I’m so proud of our beautiful creation,
perfect little nose, perfect full big lips, perfect eyebrows from Daddy!
6 pounds 17 ounces – a good size for an early bubby.
First photo I saw of my new baby while waiting in another room to be treated. I LOVED being able to stare into this picture on my partner's phone.
My partner and I on a new high.
A new level of connection,
a family, joined forever.
I was waiting on the hospital bed to get stitched up as my baby was taken to the intensive care unit to help with his breathing.
Daddy sat with him and took some photos for me to see, to ooooh and ahhhh over our beautiful boy.
So lucky and blessed he was ours and here to stay.
Our future ahead would guide its way.

My advice to you is never to panic,
never to be discouraged,
to relax and breathe
and enjoy the ride.
To know your strength,
no matter time’s length.
Don’t count the hours,
don’t look at the clock,
because it may just be one big shock.
Stay in your zone,
and close your eyes,
imagine beautiful things.
Open your body, your mind, your heart
because it’s time for your fresh new start.
A new chapter in your ever growing story,
this history, is one of glory.
Your babe will grow and so will you,
as birthing and mothering is an empowering experience,
even if it doesn’t go to plan,
you will do everything you need to and can.
Enjoy motherhood with its hard times and amazing times.
Enjoy your partner, your family, friends and parents especially your mother!
“Thank you mum, I see you now…
You are like no one else – no other!”
