When you're pregnant, your body goes through so many changes both inside and out. Overgrowing busts and ever expanding waist lines virtually make it impossible to continue wearing everyday clothes, and so comes the dreaded day where we realise...we're going to have to shop maternity.
A lot of women are able to get through their pregnancies on a budget, simply by buying items one size up and hoarding anything with an elastic waistband. But if you want to be fully comfortable during your pregnancy, there are a few statement maternity items that are worth investing in.
Maternity wear has come along way over the last few years and long gone are the bulky, sack like dresses that pregnant women were expected to wear. More and more high street stores are creating maternity lines, allowing women to feel fashionable as well as comfortable during those grueling nine months.
We've picked out a range of places that stock some of the best maternity clothes around.
Topshop Retail giant Topshop have had their own maternity line for quite some time now and stock everything from evening dresses, loungewear and even swimsuits to wear during pregnancy. The only downside? Maternity wear isn't featured in store so you'll need to order online at Topshop.com
H&M In my opinion, one of the most wearable maternity lines at the best prices, H&M really are carving the way when it comes to high street pregnancy wear. From day to night dresses, a range of denim and the comfiest maternity leggings around, you'd be silly not to check them out. H&M doesn't currently offer online shopping in Australia, so you'll have to head to your nearest store to purchase. There are currently four to choose from in Brisbane, Indooroopilly, Queen Street, Garden City or Toowoomba. For more information, head over to the H&M Website
Jeanswest A great selection of daytime comfort, maternity style. With a range of casual yet comfortable tops, shorts (and of course jeans!), Jeanswest have some great options when it comes to being preggers, however I would say some or the basic items are a bit on the pricier side. The line is sold online and in over 150 stores so why not hear over to their website to see if they stock near you.
Target Yes thats right, Target, the store that seems to sell everything has also dipped their toes into the maternity pool. An awesome place to check out for office wear and also for comfortable maternity underwear and nightwear. As well as their basic range, Aussie favourite Dannii Minogue has also designed a maternity line for the superstore, offering stylish pregnancy wear at affordable prices. The ranges are sold both in store and online so why not head over to the Target Website to see what's on offer.
ASOS.com I was in need of an evening dress recently for a friend's wedding and at five months pregnant with my second child (i.e. huge!) finding an outfit was no easy task. ASOS have such a huge selection of maternity wear, both casual and dressy, that it made shopping for maternity clothes easy and even slightly enjoyable! ASOS is an online only store however shipping is pretty affordable and super quick. Free returns are included with purchases which is awesome as I had to return a few items that were slightly oversized. Head over and check out the range at www.asos.com
Get Gorgeous Unless you're living outside of the Redlands or under a rock, you'll be well aware of Get Gorgeous clothing and beauty boutique in Cleveland. With gorgeous flowing dresses perfect for summer, this could well be what all us preggo ladies have been crying out for! Head on over to their website GetGorgeousOnline to shop the range.
Ripe Maternity If you're happy to spend a bit more on your pregnancy wardrobe then Ripe Maternity may be an option for you. It's the only store on our list that is maternity only so you'll pretty much find everything you need including a large selection of nursing wear for use after baby is born. Prices are a bit more on the expensive side, however if you're planning on having more children in the future, it may be an investment that is worth making.
