A Mother's Poem

by Summer Rae (follow)

Words, thoughts, beauty and questions
Creativity, inspiration, music and lessons
I sit amongst the fairy trees
I listen to the birds and the bees
I see the grass, leaves, flowers and seas
I dream of sand, mermaids, and Holly Lee's

My art speaks truth from inside
Deep in my chest my heart beats
It pushes me, it pulls me, it stops me
I consume too many treats
I run, dance, stretch, and swim
I do many things on a whim

I'm deep in a cloud of love
that is thundering, striking, and pouring
I pass out on a quilt of purple
While everyone is snoring
I am consumed by nightmares
Of paranoia, delusions, voices, anxiety
Family ties, family decisions, all my cares

I'm a mother
A lover
A daydream cover
My face smiles
My muscles clench
My toes scrunch
My mind can run miles
My mind is connected
Buzzing, thinking, creating
imagining, wishing and swishing

I'm earth
I'm water
I'm flesh
I'm a daughter

Inside there's a fragile child
Shaking, holding a teddy
Too shy to raise her head
Staring at a speck on the floor
Don't open the door

I'm happy
I'm anxious
I'm busy
I'm scared
I'm relaxed
I'm protective
I'm working
I'm sick
I'm a wick

I burn, I flicker, I thrive
and I ticker

The clock turns, turns, turns
I dance to Zumba
I should eat a cucumber,
then collapse into a slumber

I am many things,
I am many versions,
I am not a label
I am stable and completely able.

So I end this poem
and leave you with a tip,
Laughter, fun, relaxation, love
is the key to an upturned lip.

Enjoy the nature
Enjoy the weather
Enjoy the music
Move your body
Listen to your tummy
Follow your heart
and always believe
in
your
art.
