Did you know that 287 chemicals have been found in the umbilical cord of newborns? Of those, 180 are known to cause cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system, while 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests.
So knowing that, perhaps it is no surprise that at least 1 in 6 Australian couples have problems in falling pregnant?
To help boost your chances of getting pregnant, here are 5 fertility-enhancing tips:
Clean-up your diet!
Eat a wholefood diet, free from artificial food-additives and minimal processing.
Eat foods as close to the format that nature intended.
Eat a variety of foods – fresh, in season and organic wherever possible.
Include lots of coloured veg and fruit in your daily diet.
Lose weight now if you need to – women should not try to lose weight once they are pregnant.
Clean-up your body!
You might need to consider doing a detox; for some this might be as simple as increasing your leafy greens and ginger/garlic foods, while others might need to consider appropriate supplements.
Ditching caffeine, drugs, smoking and alcohol will all help improve your fertility.
Clean-up your home!
Did you know that the average home has more pollutants than the outdoors?! To limit the amount of chemicals that you're exposed to, avoid buying new furniture, using toxic garden sprays or decorating.
Switch to chemical-free cleaning and detergent products including personal toiletries and cosmetics.
Clean-up your lifestyle!
You don’t have to take-up a strict, full-on exercise regime but find some form of exercise that you enjoy, it could be walking or dancing.
If you are stressed, look at your situation and work out a strategy that helps you either limit the stress in your life or deal with it appropriately.
Take time-out for YOU. This could be through meditation, a massage, a beach or forest walk or simply doing something that you really love but don’t usually have time to do.
Clean-up your mind!
Time to think positively and free your mind from negative thought processes.
Visualize yourself with your healthy newborn baby at some future date.
